Arizona Woman Sentenced For Impersonating Nurse Practitioner

by Pleasant View

An Arizona woman has been sentenced to five years in state prison after authorities say she was pretending to be a nurse practitioner.

In March of 2021, Pamela O’Guinn, 58, was indicted on 36 charges. Earlier this year she plead guilty to one count each of fraudulent schemes and artifices, forgery and taking the identity of another.

On Friday, she was sentenced to five years in prison and three years of supervised probation after her release.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office said she practiced medicine as “Dr. Pamela Robinson DNP PSYD” but was not licensed to do so anywhere in the United States. Prosecutors say she falsely claimed to be a nurse practitioner and wrote prescriptions for controlled substances using the stolen identity.

The Arizona State Board of Nursing began their investigation on O’Guinn after receiving a complaint she claimed to be “Dr. Pamela Anderson” during a child custody hearing and had provided mental health services to someone involved in the case. The board referred the investigation to the Attorney General’s Office after finding no record of “Dr. Pamela Robinson.”

The board enlisted the Attorney General’s Office after finding no documented record of Dr. Pamela Robinson.
