Immigration Protests Erupt in Phoenix Amid Nationwide “Day Without Immigrants” Demonstrations

by

PHOENIX — Two immigration protests took place in Phoenix on Monday as activists participated in “Day Without Immigrants,” a demonstration opposing President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, including mass deportations and a surge in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids across the country.

This marked the fourth consecutive day of protests in the Valley, following a tense night in Glendale where police vehicles were damaged, and officers were targeted with explosive devices, large rocks, concrete chunks, and glass bottles.

One group of demonstrators gathered near ICE’s Phoenix Field Office in downtown Phoenix, marching east on Palm Lane from Central Avenue, temporarily blocking traffic in the area. The protest also disrupted Valley Metro light rail service in downtown Phoenix.

A separate large gathering took place approximately three miles away at the Arizona State Capitol. Protesters at the Capitol remained on government grounds and did not block roadways.

The protests follow a report from the Associated Press stating that last week, over 700 immigration-related arrests were made daily—more than double the daily average recorded during a 12-month period under the Biden administration.

The intensified immigration enforcement policies have sparked widespread debate and demonstrations across the country as President Trump continues to implement stricter immigration measures.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
