Over 300,000 Air Fryers Sold At Walmart, Target, and Kohl’s Recalled Due To Burn Risk

by Pleasant View

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced this week the recall of over 300,000 PowerXL air fryers due to 41 reports of the product breaking during use and in some cases causing burns.

Empower Brands publicly announced the recall of two varieties of the PowerXL dual-basket air fryer. The affected products had been sold in-store and online at retailers such as Target, Walmart, and Kohl’s from August 2021 to October 2023 and had a price tag between $60 and $190, depending on the model.

The PowerXL models affected are those air fryers with an egg-like shape and feature two baskets that can be used independently or linked together with a U-Channel connector, which unfortunately is a weak point.

The advisory states that the plastic U-Channel connector, used to attach the two food baskets in the air fryer, could break while in use, creating a potential risk of burning. So far, three burn incidents have been reported.

It is imperative that purchasers of the recalled dual-basket air fryers, which were sold in black or cinnamon, cease their use immediately and contact Empower Brands to be reimbursed in its entirety.

PowerXL air fryers with the model numbers listed below are affected by the recall:

  • The DUAF-10 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryer
  • The DUAF-005 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryer

Customers can verify whether their air fryers are part of the recall by examining the model number on the rating label affixed to the base of the unit or on the tag attached to the power cord.
