Peoria authorities were at the scene of a fatal head-on crash on Saturday evening near Lake Pleasant, resulting in the death of two individuals and the hospitalization of two others.

According to Peoria police, Nivesh Mukka and Goutham Parsi, both 19-year-old men from India, lost their lives in the accident.

On Saturday at 6:18 p.m., officers from the Peoria Police Department and the Peoria Fire and Medical Department were dispatched to a crash that occurred on Castle Hot Springs Road, located north of State Route 74.

The police reported that a red Ford F-150 was heading south on Castle Hot Springs Road when a white Kia Forte, traveling in the opposite direction, crashed into it in a head-on collision.

Mukka and Parsi were both riding in the Forte as passengers. The Forte’s driver was taken to a nearby hospital due to severe injuries, but was eventually discharged. The driver of the F-150 was also brought to a local hospital and later released.

The Peoria Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit is currently investigating the crash and it is unknown if speed or impairment played a role.

The initial examination resulted in the closure of the road for a few hours, but it was reopened at approximately 5:30 a.m. the following morning, on Sunday.
