Peoria Woman Missing After Family Attempted To Put Her In Mental Health Facility

by Pleasant View

A Peoria family is desperate for help in locating a missing woman who they say was abandoned outside a Phoenix jail.

Lucy Castro, 37, has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, was last seen outside a jail on Thursday evening. Peoria Police have formally filed a missing person’s report.

The family’s issue started when Peoria Police received a mental health petition form completed by Castro’s father Ramiro Sr. last month after her bipolar disorder symptoms worsened. When police arrived at her home last Wednesday to transport her to a mental health facility, Castro fought back and was charged with aggravated assault.

Documents show that an officer did in fact email Castro’s mental health petition to a Maricopa County detention deputy, and a sergeant confirmed that the form was in filed in Castro’s file. However, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s received no documentation preventing them from releasing her on Thursday.

Castro was released on Thursday night without anyone reaching out to her family informing of them. The woman has been missing ever since and says she might appear mentally stable, but she is not.

Castro’s family has begun searching the area for her, hoping to find her.  The family is asking the community if they see her to please call authorities.
