On Monday, seven individuals suspected of burglary were arrested by the Glendale Police Department after they allegedly stole packages from a UPS truck parked in a loading dock at a local mall.

Last Thursday, authorities were alerted to a burglary involving a UPS delivery truck at Tanger Outlets, located near Glendale and 95th avenues.

According to reports, the truck was parked in the loading area when a group of seven individuals gained access and absconded with multiple boxes.

Police say that the male individuals proceeded to load a white cargo van with the stolen boxes of goods.

The individuals have been charged with committing burglary and possessing tools for burglary. All seven are currently in custody on a bond of $50,000 each.  Six of the seven suspects who spoke to detectives admitted to unloading the packages from the delivery truck and putting them into their van, as well as fleeing from police on foot until they were taken into custody.

The accused were caught quickly in due part by a good citizen and several police patrolling the area who responded quickly.  Police had a solid description of the van due to a bystander who recorded footage of the individuals leaving in a license plate-less white cargo van.

Traffic cameras were immediately utilized by the police to monitor the movement of the van as it headed south on the Loop 101 freeway.

According to authorities, the van took an exit from the highway and then returned with a California license plate.

Once authorities engaged, the van came to a stop at the intersection of 79th Avenue and the Interstate 10 freeway. The individuals inside the van exited and fled on foot down McDowell Road.

Upon inspection of the truck by the police, they discovered tools commonly used for burglary such as grinders, bolt cutters, extended crow bars, and floor jacks.

Police reports state there were 28 packages of stolen merchandise that were recovered.
