Glendale Man Turns Himself in After Killing Ex-Girlfriend

by Pleasant View

Glendale Police say that a man has turned himself in after admitting to killing his ex-girlfriend and injuring two others at a Glendale apartment complex on Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the victim as 20-year-old Jordin Miranda Castillo, was shot and after an ex-boyfriend, 22-year-old Rueben Xavier Rocha broke into the apartment where she was staying.

Glendale police were called to an apartment complex around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, near 51st and Northern Avenues. When they arrived, they found three people shot. All victims were all taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police confirmed Monday morning that Castillo had died.

According to reports, Rocha came to the apartment after a social media dispute dressed in all black, wearing a facemask, and a hoodie pulled over his head. Rocha allegedly went up to the third-floor apartment and jumped over onto a balcony before breaking the glass of the balcony door. There were six occupants in the apartment, including Rocha’s ex-girlfriend Jordin Miranda Castillo, three other women, a male occupant and Castillo’s 2-year-old daughter. Castillo called 911.

As Castillo was speaking to 911, details state Rocha opened fire from the balcony. Castillo was shot along with two other women, a 19-year-old, and a 20-year-old. The 19-year-old is in critical condition and the 20-year-old has been listed in stable condition. The remaining woman in the apartment took Castillo’s daughter in the bathroom and hid. Neither the woman nor the child were hurt. The only man in the apartment was not injured.

Rocha fled before officers arrived but turned himself in around 1:30 p.m. Monday. He will be booked on charges including murder, aggravated assault, and burglary.
