One man is dead in Vistancia, and police have detained a man for questioning an overnight shooting in a Peoria.
Peoria police were called to reports of a shooting just before 11:30 p.m. on Monday night near the cross roads of Lone Mountain Pkwy and El Mirage Road. When the police arrived, they found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation led detectives to believe that this shooting was not random, everyone involved in the shooting knew each other. Police were able to detain a man for questioning. When officials arrived, there was a white car parked in the middle of the street with a bullet hole in the side of the car. Detectives are still trying to determine the details of the car and how it relates to the shooting incident.
Last night, police had shut down access to the neighborhood so they could collect evidence and secure the scene. By Monday morning Peoria Police reported there was no threat to the community and said they are still investigating the incident. They were not able to clarify if the person they took in for questioning was the suspect and no additional information has been released.
