Peoria City Council Approves Peoria Sports Complex Renovations

by Pleasant View

The Peoria City Council recently approved a $6.3 million contract amendment for renovations and reconstruction of amenities at the Peoria Sports Complex.

Since its debut in 1994, the Peoria Sports Complex has undergone numerous enhancements and since then has seen some wear and tear.  The Peoria City Council is committed to maintaining the facility for many years of enjoyment by residents and baseball fans.

The list of improvements includes the following:
-new maintenance building
-a secure maintenance equipment yard
-new fire safety road
-utility and maintenance staff parking improvements

They have approved to start construction of the new building, with plans to break ground in January 2024. The construction will concur with the Spring Training in 2024 season, but efforts are being taken to make sure the overall fan experience is not impacted.

In the summer of 2024, the plan will be to complete the final fire access roadway to the new yard and shop, as well as the new visitor and staff parking lot. If the schedule stays on track, the renovations will be complete in the fall of 2024.
