Phoenix Children’s Specialty Clinic Expanding To Glendale

by Pleasant View

After the initial announcement two years ago, Phoenix Children’s long-awaited expansion into the West Valley is now a reality.

Robert L. Meyer, president and CEO of Phoenix Children’s, declared that the necessity for pediatric health care services is particularly strong in the West Valley, due to the rapid population increase.

The health care provider announced in 2021 that they would be constructing a hospital at their Southwest Campus. This new clinic is 45,000-square-foot and will provide care in more than two dozen specialties. It offers 24 beds for inpatient care, 6 operating rooms, and 30 emergency trauma bays, all of which will be dedicated for pediatric patients in the West Valley.

The population in the area is projected to expand drastically, with Phoenix Children’s estimating an increase of 100,000 by the decade’s end. This new construction effort reflects Phoenix Children’s presence at more than forty locations in Arizona. Additionally, they are developing a hospital in the East Valley on the Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center campus.

The new pediatric facility is located near Union Hills Drive and 67th Avenue.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital held their grand opening ceremony on Wednesday and the new clinic will serve its first patients on Nov. 15.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital announced the final cost of the Arrowhead campus to be $195 million, and is expected to generate over 400 jobs in the Glendale area with approximately 72,000 patients being treated annually.
