Two Peoria High Schools To Square Off This Week In State Football Championship

The Liberty Lions locked down the victory over Highland High School, advancing the Lions to the State Championship in the high school football semifinal match.

The Lions secured their return to the big game with an impressive season and the 54-12 victory over Highland on Saturday night in front of a loud audience at Mountain Ridge High School.

The high school championship game is scheduled for Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe, where for a first time in the school district history two Peoria Unified School District high schools, Liberty and Centennial, will face off against each other.

Centennial secured their spot in the championship game with a 35-27 victory over defending champion Basha in their semifinal game on Saturday.

In the regular season final game, Liberty defeated Centennial on Nov. 3rd.
