by Pleasant View

Two individuals have been apprehended by the authorities for their involvement in several burglaries targeting small businesses in Peoria.

Samuel Rocha

Both Samuel Rocha, aged 27, and Erica Ortega-Pompa, aged 20, were arrested and are now facing multiple charges of burglary and criminal damage.

According to authorities, the alleged string of criminal activities began on Mar. 23 when Rocha and Ortega-Pompa are said to have burglarized numerous stores and made off with cash registers and safes.

The surveillance footage captured a truck arriving at the business during one of the break-ins. Two individuals proceeded to exit the truck and forcibly open the door, causing shattered glass to scatter on the floor. Once inside, the perpetrators headed towards a rear room where they eventually emerged with what appears to be the safe and cash register belonging to the store.

The reported incidents occurred at Long Wong’s Hot Wings, Sweety House, Carolina’s Mexican Food, and Twisted Cultures Yogurt Shop. These establishments are all situated between Northern and Peoria Avenues, in close proximity to 91st Avenue.

The authorities report that the approximate cost of the destruction and the worth of the pilfered goods is approximately $17,000.
